Create System Management Container and extend AD Schema

SCCM AD Schema extension is required for SCCM. It lets sccm client query efficiently locate resources like content servers and additional services that the different Configuration Manager site system roles provide. If you already extended AD Schema in 2007, you don’t need to do it again in 2012 but it does require for SCCM Current Branch. Here’s how

1. from a Domain Controller run ADSIEDIT.MSC


2. Browse down to CN=System then right click to create System Management Container. Select New > Object . Select Container


3. Click Next Type System Management, click Next then Finish


4. You have to grant full permission to SCCM Site Server. Right click on System Managment then select Properties


5. Security tab click on Add


6. Click on Advanced


7. Highlight security group then click on Advanced


8. Select This object and all descendant objects then click OK.


9. Run extasch.exe. The account must be member of “Schema Admin”


10. Done
